BIG-BAG sawdust separator for WMT-1 ÷ WMT-4 fans

Sawdust separator (unloading station) BIG-BAG was designed to cooperate with transport fans of different capacity, typically with models from WMT-1 to WMT-4 or other fans with a capacity not exceeding 4000 m3/h. Thanks to the versatility of this solution, it is possible to use the separator in various configurations along with the customer's changing machine park. Separation of the separator from the fan makes it possible to easily change the power of the system without changing the separator, as well as to use the fan that has previously worked with the separator in another system. This reduces the number of situations when, after modernization of the machine park, Customers store unused sawdust extraction equipment or resell it at a price lower than its real value.

Advantages of the solution

The use of a large-capacity collection bag reduces the frequency of emptying and increases the efficiency of work in plants for which typical bag dust collectors have too small capacity. This solution is recommended especially for stations where significant amounts of sawdust or chips are generated in a short period of time, and at the same time it is impossible or uneconomical to connect these stations to central sawdust extraction. Due to their quick installation and low price, customers often use BIG-BAG separators as a temporary solution after purchasing machines that do not yet have central extraction prepared.

BIG-BAG type bulk bag operation

With a diameter of 1 m and a height of 1.4 m, the BIG-BAG bag is equipped with a bottom with a full drain flap, which allows the tank to be quickly emptied without having to turn the bag upside down. Unlike typical BIG-BAG bags designed for bulk materials, the dump does not block even with wet wood waste. Waste can be dumped directly into a bin, container or onto a transport line, after the bag has been lifted with a forklift.

The height of the frame's construction allows for a standard euro pallet to be placed, which improves the transport and storage of filled bags. The space under the separator has been selected in such a way as not to limit the maneuverability of the forklift.

Selection of the filter fabric according to the nature of work

The availability of two variants of filter fabrics makes it possible to match the separator to the conditions of a particular workstation.

• The fabric of the Standard type, with a lower weight, works well with, among others, sawdust from cutting damp wood, chips, shavings, pellets and other materials with a low content of fine dust. It is characterized by low flow resistance and easy cleaning.
• The Plus type fabric, with its heavier weight, is used in environments where dust from sanding or other processes generating large amounts of very fine dust is prevalent. The higher fabric weight allows better capture of small particles, which translates into less dust coming from the separator, but at the same time puts more resistance to airflow. In this case, it is important to keep in mind the need for more frequent cleaning of the fabric, which has an impact on maintaining proper air permeability.

Both types of fabric can be cleaned with compressed air and by washing.

Conditions of use

The device is not suitable for use in hazardous areas. This means that it cannot be used in environments where dust or flammable gases, as well as dust-air mixtures with explosive properties, may be present.

BIG-BAG separators (unloading stations) must operate under a canopy so that the filter bags do not get wet and lose their air permeability.

Dimensions and installation method

The dimensions of the separator (1.3 m x 1.2 m x 3.4 m) make it possible to install it in the production hall without occupying a significant floor space. Due to the overall height, it is worth taking into account the minimum ceiling clearance. On the opposite side from the one at which the fan stands, it should be possible to drive a forklift (even if by hand) under the pallet on which the BIG-BAG bag stands.
