Cyclones are used for gravitational separation of solid particles from air. They are used in the pneumatic transport of shavings, sawdust, granulates, middlings, feed, film flakes, leather offcuts, etc.

The cyclone must operate in a vertical position. Sawdust is discharged through the bottom outlet, and cleaned air is discharged through the top outlet.

Note: No cyclone ensures 100% separation efficiency!
